ABOUT
THE PROGRAM
The goal of the Kajsiab Project is to enhance Hmong elders' quality of life by providing programming that reduces social isolation, increases physical and mental health literacy that addresses historical and life-long trauma, and promote healing through innovative and creative expressions.
SERVICES
This program meets bi-weekly every Thursdays at the Eau Claire Area Hmong Mutual Assistance Association. Each session may include an: exercise class, healthy lunch, health related presentations and unstructured social times.
FUNDING
Funded by the Department of Children and Families to provide supportive services to Hmong elders who had experienced violence. The project is also supported by the Thurston "It's the little things" Familly Fund, the Jon N. and Maureen S. Homstad Family Fund, and the Lois and Arnold Domer Fund of the Eau Claire Community Foundation. Support is also provided by Wells Fargo Foundation.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Kajsiab Community Garden
The Kajsiab Project expanded in the Spring of 2015 with the groundbreaking of the Kajsiab Community Garden in partnership with the UW-Extension of the Eau Claire County and funded by the NCRS (read the article about the project here) at the Jeffers Road Community Garden. This includes gardening in the spring and summer months. Allowing us to expand the program year round to meet the needs of Hmong Elders while also addressing food insecurity.
